Andy Goldsworthy is a British post-modern artist who works with environmental media to create mostly temporary artworks, with the purpose to show the changes of his works overtime. Goldsworthy main concerns are time, space, movement and change. The public of the 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art will be extremely lucky to experience the ephemeral and delicate art of Andy Goldsworthy. The audience will have the opportunity to observe each rich instant that the work lives in, and be pleased with the intricate art of Andy Goldsworthy.

The work, Woven Beech, Hooke Entrance, Dorset 1986 is a work with the main focus being sticks symmetrically positioned in a path which leads to a forest. Each stick was pushed into the ground and structured to become a representation of an entrance, or a frame. The contrast between the sticks that form the entrance and the naturally grown sticks from the trees, gives the idea of a man made thing. It is the idea of human shaping nature, without leaving lasting marks (One of his main concerns). The representation of an entrance gives the work a kind of curiosity for the unknown, and a motivation to go inside. Despite of being an ephemeral installation, time is not the main focus on this work. Goldsworthy was more concerned about giving the work an melancholic yet tempting look, by choosing the right place and media to do his work.

Goldsworthy attempts to comprehend nature by directly participating in it, and finding unusual ways to deal with it. He rejects the idea of a closed space showing artworks, and prefers to display his work in natural environment, without using any kind of industrialized things, such as glue, nails, rope, etc. His ideology is that the human should not leave any kind of permanent mark on the environment. This work will add a lot to the exhibition because of the innovative and creative use of natural media to create a meaningful piece of work.
